Introducing our Service

Instant Payment Service (LYPay)

It is a service launched by the Central Bank of Libya aimed at facilitating transfers between Libyan banks. The service connects commercial banks to each other through a central system (LYPay) linked to the mobile applications of commercial banks (Mobile App) and the banking systems of commercial banks.

System Ownership

Central Bank of Libya

The Central Bank of Libya owns the LYPay system and all its components. The system is currently operated by Moamalat Financial Services Company as part of the National Payment Switch.LYPay Logo

Utilizing the Service

The service can be utilized through the following methods

Receiving funds

You can receive funds into your account by sharing your account number in IBAN format with someone at a bank that participates in the service.

Sending funds

Using your banking application or SMS (depending on your bank), you can send funds to another person’s account by entering their account number in IBAN format.

QR Payment Service

You can pay the merchant by scanning a QR code using your banking application.

System Components

The LYPay system consists of three main components.

National Alias
Directory System (NAD)

This is a national system where all bank accounts and their owners’ data are registered to verify the identity of customers using the system, ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regulations.

Instant Payment
Service (LYPay)

This is the core system that connects the commercial banks’ applications with each other and serves as the primary interface between the commercial bank and the instant payment system

National
Switch

National Switch This system connects the local card payment systems and local point-of-sale (POS) terminals of all banks participating in the National Switch.
